Romantic Surprise Proposal on Lake Michigan | West Michigan Wedding Photographer

When Michael reached out, regarding a proposal on the beach, I knew I wanted to make this work! I love love, and something as sweet as a proposal just pulls right at my heart strings! Michael had selected a beautiful spot on Lake Michigan’s shoreline, and installed a floral arch that he assembled and designed himself. So perfect, right?! Everything was well thought out and perfectly planned.

I remember my heart pounding with excitement as I waited in my sandy hide-out for their arrival. Katie thought they were going for a walk on the beach before dinner, but she surely had to suspect otherwise when Michael handed her a gorgeous bouquet of roses while leading her through the sand to a floral filled arch overlooking the big lake. I could already see the emotions spilling from her, and when he got down on one knee, I think that’s the point where we all lost it, myself included. And…drumroll…she said YES!

After their sweet and emotional exchange, I grabbed a few celebratory photos before scooting to let them enjoy their first evening together as a newly engaged couple. They weren’t in fact going to dinner - Michael had a picnic planned at the beach! Ah! So romantic.
