Intimate Backyard Elopement with Presley & James | Hudsonville, Michigan
Presley + James
My heart goes out to all the 2020 couples navigating the affects of COVID-19. Each day is a waiting game. Waiting to see what the new State orders or CDC group size recommendations will be announced next. With multiple weddings being pushed to later in the year or even to the following year, Presley & James decided to stick with their original end-of-May date. This would mean a lot of change. It would mean cutting most of their guest list. It would mean dropping their venue and eloping in their backyard. It would mean a very intimate gathering versus a large celebration. It would look different in more ways than one.
But Presley & James, they embraced these changes. Their families and guests embraced the changes. With just immediate families and their wedding party present, the show went on and it went on to be a beautiful, emotional, and telling story of their love & dedication to each other.
But let me tell you. Their new “venue” was anything but ordinary. A quaint backyard adorned with towering trees, lush ferns, and beautiful floral. The cutest shed with flower boxes, a wreath, and tree swing. A floral & foliage filled arch in front of a small bridge. Their head table was tucked into the woods - little lights twinkling above; flowy lavender fabric, vintage goblets, and tall candles among the spread. A ruffled cake and the sweetest fur babies joining the festivities. It was almost as if it was meant to be this way all along. It sure felt that way at least. There was some magic about it.
After a heartfelt ceremony & sermon provided by James’ father, the newlyweds were greeted by guests in a celebratory car parade. After speeches, dinner, and a slide show, Presley, James, and I headed to a nearby park for their first dance followed by golden hour photos to wrap the beautiful eve. Their willingness and ability to adapt in such unforeseen and difficult circumstances is a true testament to their bond. Presley & James, I wish you both the best and happiness for all your years ahead!
Enjoy this peek into their day, and don’t forget to check out all the incredible vendors listed at the end!
